The X399 is very much like the little brother to our highly popular and very powerful X499. Buying an X399 means that you don’t have to sacrifice a single hardware thread compared to the X499, so if what you are mainly interested in are CPU-threaded applications there are no compromises to be made here. You can beef things up all the way to the same 88-thread Xeon E5 configuration as the more expensive X499.

The main difference when it comes to performance is in the lower number of GPU slots and that this computer can only support one quarter of a TB’s RAM. For use in applications such as AutoDesk Revit this is ideal, since CPU cores is something the software is very hungry for.

Although you can only fit two GPU cards into the system, these can be mixed between desktop graphics and professional GPU computing workloads. The X399 is therefore an intriguing lesson in how versatile modern computer design can be.

Despite it’s smaller size, the X399 sports similar noise levels as its X499 brother. Its Dynatron fan solutions ensure that even under loads you’ll barely hear a thing.

The X399 represents the best way to have the core guts of our incredible X499 while still having something practical to go under a desk. But with these gorgeous looks perhaps ON your desk is a more natural place for it.
