System Recommendations
CPU: V-Ray can make full use of all available CPU threads, scaling exceptionally well with higher core counts. For CPU-based rendering, we recommend a high-core-count processor such as AMD Threadripper or Intel Xeon, as these will significantly reduce final render times. For lighter workflows or modeling tasks, a high-frequency CPU with strong single-core performance is sufficient. Liquid cooling is highly recommended for sustained performance during intensive renders.
GPU: Modern versions of V-Ray also include powerful GPU-based rendering options through NVIDIA CUDA and RTX technologies. For GPU rendering, we strongly recommend NVIDIA RTX or RTX A-series GPUs, as they provide the best performance and support for hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Multiple GPUs can be used for even greater speed in complex rendering scenarios.
RAM: Rendering large, high-resolution scenes requires substantial system memory. We recommend 32GB of RAM as a baseline for most users, and 64GB or more for complex environments, large textures, or simultaneous multitasking with other applications.
Storage: Fast access to project data is crucial. A high-speed NVMe SSD should be used for the operating system and active project files, with additional SSD or HDD storage for archived scenes, asset libraries, and output renders.
