CPU Recommendations for CATIA


CATIA is primarily CPU-bound, especially during modeling, sketching, and parametric updates. While certain analysis and rendering modules can use multiple cores, the majority of CATIA’s processes benefit most from high single-thread performance.

For general design and modeling, we recommend modern Intel Core i7, i9, or AMD Ryzen 7 and 9 processors — particularly models with high clock speeds above 5.0GHz.

If your workflow includes simulation, FEA, or rendering modules (such as CATIA Analysis or Ray Traced Rendering), then workstation CPUs such as Intel Xeon W-series or AMD Threadripper PRO can provide the necessary multi-core horsepower and larger memory capacity.

Recommended CPUs:

- Intel Core i9 (14th Gen or newer)
- AMD Ryzen 9 7950X / 9950X
- Intel Xeon W-2400 / W-3400 Series
- AMD Threadripper PRO 9000 Series (for simulation-heavy workflows)


GPU Recommendations for CATIA

CATIA relies heavily on GPU acceleration for visualization and real-time model interaction, especially in complex assemblies. Dassault Systèmes officially certifies professional workstation GPUs, such as NVIDIA RTX A-series (formerly Quadro) or AMD Radeon PRO models.

These cards are optimized and tested for CATIA’s OpenGL engine, ensuring stability and visual accuracy that consumer GPUs cannot guarantee.

For design students or lighter workloads, a GeForce RTX 4060 or 4070 may suffice, but for professional and enterprise-level use, certified workstation GPUs are highly recommended.


Storage Recommendations for CATIA

CATIA projects can grow large quickly — especially when working with assemblies, simulation data, or PLM environments. Fast and reliable storage is crucial to avoid slow saves, load times, or data corruption.

We recommend at least two NVMe SSDs:

Memory (RAM) Recommendations for CATIA

CATIA can use a significant amount of memory, particularly with large assemblies, simulations, and rendering. Insufficient RAM is a common bottleneck in complex workflows.

- Recommended: 64GB
- High-End / Simulation Use: 128GB+

If using a Xeon or Threadripper PRO platform, ECC (Error-Correcting Code) memory adds reliability for mission-critical engineering projects.
