COMSOL

Comsol products are usually memory and CPU hungry applications. Exactly what hardware configuration you need strongly depends on what modules you use, how big your projects are and, of course, your budget.

Ideal configuration:
Two of our most popular workstation models for customers using COMSOL are our Titan W599 and Titan X650.
They are both Intel based systems. The first one (W599) with a dual Xeon CPU configuration and up to 56 cores and 112 threads can install a total of 1TB of ECC DDR4 Memory.

The titan X650 is a heavier duty, server like workstation powered by 4 Intel Xeon CPUs capable of 48 physical cores and 96 threads and up to 2TB of DDR4 memory. This system runs only Windows Server or Linux as Windows 7/8.1 have a CPU limit of 2.

Minimun configuration:
Comsol's recommended minimum configuration criteria is to have at least 1GB of RAM per CPU core. Therefore you could run the application in a laptop or desktop computer with a Quad core but it will be very limited on what you can do.
One of our single CPU workstations such as Titan X199 would be an ideal entry level system for Comsol. This system uses Intel Xeon CPUs from six to up to 18 cores and 16GB to 256GB of DDR4 memory.
